Wasabi buys out Seagate’s Lyve Cloud

One of our technology partners, Wasabi Technologies, has recently taken another step towards expanding its footprint in the enterprise data storage world by buying out and absorbing Seagate’s Lyve Cloud.

Seagate has instead decided to focus on their core business, mass-capacity storage, divesting themselves of their cloud while making themselves a Wasabi shareholder.

“This acquisition strengthens our position as the world’s leading pure-play cloud storage vendor,” said David Friend, co-Founder and CEO of Wasabi Technologies, in their recent press release. “Seagate has built a loyal enterprise customer base for Lyve Cloud storage, and we welcome those customers to Wasabi. We are focused on supporting their growth with our global network of data centers, innovative security features such as Covert Copy, AI-ready capabilities, partner integration tools, and technical support.”

We congratulate Wasabi’s recent growth and look forward to seeing how they continue to leverage their unique set of competencies into further successes.

Storage and System

Wasabi’s growth cements them as one of the players to watch in providing Cloud storage solutions. To complement this storage, prospective clients should consider the next steps – what systems to deploy on this storage. Namely, archives or backups to ensure data security, long-term retention, discoverability and compliance.
